Ottawa is the capital of Canada. It is the second largest city in Ontario and the fourth largest city in the country. The city is located on the south bank of the Ottawa River. Ottawa borders Gatineau, Quebec, located on the north bank of the Ottawa River; and together they form what it is known as the National Capital Region with over one million people living in the area.
